“A lot of our work has been done is visible to the eye, but supporting it with documentation. And that’s the purpose with the dashboard. This dashboard is to bring people up to date, keep them informed as we continue to move forward.” Alsandor said.
The up-to-date information provided on the dashboard includes City budget information laid out on spreadsheets, answers to frequently asked questions, reports on the latest city projects, even a place for residents to submit questions and comments directly to city staff.
“You can go look each and every day and follow our progress in the city of Opelousas.” Alsandor said.
Alsandor said the inspiration for this improved website comes after residents complained that not enough information was being put out.
Alsandor wants to highlight the information discussed at council meetings so people can be informed and keep track of where their tax dollars are being spent.
With the website planned to be updated constantly, Alsandor said he has high hopes for future conversations with the people of the city.
“That there are questions that they have answered. That they are aware of the steps that we’re taking, why are we taking them and what the outcome of that will be. Be more informed. If you’re more informed, less questions that you have. And that’s the purpose of this dashboard.” Alsandor said
