There are contestants from 14 different states competing in the episode, which airs on NBC at 7 p.m.
One of those contestants is from Louisiana. His name is Wes Meador, and he hails from Prairieville.
Meador will be appearing on the show for the fourth time. He previously competed on American Ninja Warrior during seasons 13, 14, and 16.
The Ascension Parish resident was stunned to be invited back to compete on the show.
He said, “After three appearances and falling on the third obstacle every time, I figured I wasn’t getting another shot.”
Meador said the opening round is the qualifying round to get to the semifinals. From there, contestants compete for the chance to advance to the finals and participate in head-to-head runs.
