Livingston Parish woman arrested, accused of child sex crimes

MAUREPAS, La. (Louisiana First) — A Livingston Parish woman has been arrested in connection with a case involving the production and possession of child sexual abuse material.

According to the Louisiana State Police, Christy Babin, 39, of Maurepas, was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on multiple charges.

On May 20, 2025, investigators with the LSP Special Victims Unit (LSP/SVU), along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), began an investigation into the production and possession of child sexual abuse material.

The investigation started after the LSP SVU received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about the potential exploitation of children. After investigating, law enforcement identified Babin as the individual responsible for possessing the child sexual abuse material.

On May 29, 2025, a search warrant was executed at Babin’s residence. She was arrested for one count of possession of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13.

Further investigation revealed that Babin also took the images of the juvenile. She was also charged with production of pornography involving juveniles.

The case remains under investigation.
