The ceremony will be held on June 7 at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. then followed by the rosary at 9:30 a.m. The funeral service itself is set to begin at 11 a.m.
ORIGINAL STORY: ST. MARTINVILLE, La. (KLFY) — The community of St. Martinville mourns the loss of fallen Officer Douglas Simon III.
According to the St. Martinville Police Department, Douglas Simon III served as a police officer for 21 years as well as a patrol officer for many years. For the past 8 years he worked as a detective and our intel officer for law enforcement.
“Doug was an amazing Officer, Friend and Human Being! He was the type of person that was always there for anyone in need no matter the time or day!” Officer Ricky Martin, St.Martinville’s Police Chief said.
The community is mourning his loss, and the Police Department is seeking strength and comfort for his family and colleagues.
“We ask for strength and comfort for our Blue family and the Simon Family during this difficult time. We trust in Your love and mercy. Amen” St. Martinville Police Department Facebook post said.
At this moment, information of the funeral arrangement has yet to be released.
