Fundraiser launched for Louisiana child after parents' fatal crashes
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A GoFundMe was created to support a child who lost both of his parents in two separate crashes, hours apart.

Louisiana State Police said Alexus Lee, 25, was involved in a single-vehicle crash on La. Hwy 67 at Lemon Road in East Baton Rouge Parish on May 16, around 2 a.m. About an hour and a half later, John Collins, 35, was involved in a crash on La. Hwy 67 at Idlewild Road in East Feliciana Parish.

According to Lee’s family, the couple was engaged, preparing for a February 2026 wedding, and had a four-year-old son. Alexus’ sister, Dominique, said the GoFundMe would benefit their son, Gabriel. It would serve as either a trust fund or a college education for Gabriel.

As of Tuesday, 262 donations have brought the total to $13,444 for Gabriel.

“Your generosity, no matter the amount, will help give Gabriel the life his parents dreamed of for him. If you’re looking for a way to help from anywhere in the country, this is a meaningful way to show your support,” said Dominique.
