Amazon layoffs to impact dozens of jobs in Sunnyvale

(KRON) — Amazon is potentially laying off a few dozen employees at different facilities across Sunnyvale, according to state filings. Just over 50 workers look set to lose their jobs this summer, a filing on the Employment Development Department website indicates.

Notice of the layoffs was filed and processed last Thursday with the greatest number of job cuts coming at the e-commerce giant’s Lab126 facility at 1100 Enterprise Way, where 33 people will be let go.

Another six employees at Amazon’s Lab126 facility on 11th Avenue in Sunnyvale will also be impacted by the job cuts. Lab126 is a research and development company behind Amazon’s Kindle, Fire and Echo devices.

The company will also be cutting five jobs at what appears to be a fulfillment center located at 1100 Discovery Way. An additional eight jobs will be cut at an Amazon facility located at 1140 Enterprise Way.

Last week, Reuters reported that Amazon would be trimming 100 jobs across its devices and services unit. The local impacts, which are set to take affect on July 7, appear to be part of those broader job cuts.
