Louisiana’s John Foster lands second place in ‘American Idol’ finale

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana country singer John Foster finished runner-up in the talent competition series “American Idol” Sunday night.

Foster, 18, paid homage to the town of Addis with his performance of “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” He also sang “Courtesy of The Red White and Blue” and his new single “Tell That Angel I Love Her.”

The Town of Addis released a statement after the finale in support of Foster. The community had held a parade and concert in honor of Foster.

John Foster may not have taken home the title tonight, but in our eyes—and in the hearts of millions—he is our American Idol!

“From the first audition to the final performance, John gave us everything: raw talent, genuine emotion, and a spirit that never wavered. He stood on that stage with grace, courage, and a voice that moved people across the country.

“He didn’t just sing—he connected. He made people believe. And for that, we couldn’t be prouder.

“This isn’t the end. It’s only the beginning of something extraordinary. The world has seen what he can do, and trust us—this is just the start of his story.

“John, thank you for taking us along for the ride. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.”

“We’re incredibly proud of John. He’s put West Baton Rouge in the national spotlight, and we’re all celebrating this amazing time with him!” West Baton Rouge Sheriff Jeff Bergeron said.

Jamal Roberts of Mississippi was crowned the winner of this year’s competition.
