State of emergency declared in Pulaski County: What to know

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A state of emergency was declared early Saturday in Pulaski County in the aftermath of a deadly line of storms overnight.

Judge Executive Marshall Todd made the declaration just after 2 a.m. ET, according to the Pulaski County Emergency Management Facebook page.

LATEST KENTUCKY NEWS:

Emergency management officials announced that anyone whose homes had been damaged or destroyed during the storms is encouraged to call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

A shelter was opened at New Life Church in Ferguson, which can be found at 222 Murphy Ave.

Somerset mayor Alan Keck issued a state of emergency for the city following “extensive” damage.

As of 9 a.m., over 1,600 customers in Pulaski County were confirmed to be without power, according to PowerOutages.us.
