Pulaski County community members offer free services for those in need

SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) — Across Pulaski County, businesses and community members came together to help recover after extensive damage to homes and infrastructure.

For those in need of roof tarping, Bach Enterprises announced around 9 a.m. on Sunday that they have helped with tarping for free in areas affected by the tornado. Semper Fi Roofing also wrote that crews are standing by to offer free help with tarping at no cost.

DIY Supply, a Somerset business on University Drive, announced that free laundry services were available to tornado victims.

Those in need of services can drop off laundry and pick it up the next day.

From 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, the Living Bread Soup Kitchen will have free pizza, snacks, and drinks, as well as beans and cornbread supplied with help from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints & Domino’s Pizza for linemen, first responders, and anyone impacted by the storms. The soup kitchen is located at 321 South Maple Street, downstairs in the rear of the building.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook, asking residents to be aware of a large number of calls deputies have received following the tornado concerning scams.

“As a reminder, no one from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, or any other Pulaski County Emergency Service will contact you by phone to request for monetary donations during this time,” Pulaski County law enforcement wrote. “Do not give out your personal identifying information or credit card numbers to anyone claiming to be with emergency services.”
