Pitkin man arrested for illegal use of weapon

LEESVILLE, La. (WNTZ) — Sheriff Sam Craft of the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office (VPSO) has announced several recent arrests made by deputies in connection with outstanding warrants and criminal offenses.

On April 22, deputies arrested Derrick Menyweather, 43, of Lake Charles, on an outstanding bench warrant. He was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail, where he remains in custody. Bond has not yet been set.

That same day, Terry Wright, 52, of Rosepine, was taken into custody and charged with one count of violation of a protective order and one out-of-jurisdiction bench warrant. Wright is also being held in the VPSO jail without bond at this time.

On April 23, Richard Brandon Gunter, 47, of Pitkin, was arrested and charged with one count of illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities and one count of negligent injuring. He remains in the Vernon Parish Jail pending bond determination.

All cases remain under investigation. As always, all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
