Deputies said they arrested Treshawn Lanathan Thomas, 23, Joseph Elton Richard, 59 and Willie Junior Sam or Willie Sam Jr. 48.
Thomas is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, cocaine and Promethazine, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice, authorities said.
Richard is charged with six counts of possession of machine guns, authorities said.
Sam is charged with seven counts of a machine gun by convicted felon, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number, four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and synthetic marijuana and possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS, deputies said.
According deputies, they received information that a subject named “Trey” was allegedly selling marijuana and was in possession of several firearms from a residence at 413 Magnolia Street in Opelousas.
As officials arrived at the residence, they allegedly saw “Trey,” later identified as Thomas, attempting to flee from the officials while carrying a duffle bag.
Thomas was apprehended without incident, but not before he was seen throwing a digital scale onto the roof of the house, deputies said.
Deputies said they also arrested Joseph Richard and Willie Sam, while connecting the neighboring homes to the illegal activity.
Search warrants were applied for and executed on the two residences where the following items were found:
- Approximately one pint of Promethazine with an estimated street value of $200
- two marijuana hand-rolled cigarettes
- two drum magazines
- a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-auto pistol
- six auto-sears, 5 for Glock pistols and 1 for an AR rifle
- a Draco semi-auto pistol
- a Diamondback AR pistol, .300 Blackout caliber with an auto-sear
- a Tec-9 semi-auto pistol, fully loaded and with an obliterated serial number
- 11 sheets of “Mojo” synthetic marijuana, with an estimated street value of $9,840
- Three digital scales.
