INDIANAPOLIS — Officials with Roche Diagnostics announced on Monday that it will invest $550 million in its Indianapolis site by 2030.

According to a news release from the company. the site will serve as a hub for the company’s manufacturing of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems. Officials said the expansion is expected to create hundreds of jobs.

The release said that CGM technologies offer support for daily diabetes management. The company said that this expansion will help advance science and drive innovation for these products. The company aims to deliver “cutting-edge solutions that improve patient outcomes.”

“The challenges of diabetes are pervasive, with millions of Americans living with the constant vigilance and countless daily decisions the disease requires,” Brad Moore, the president and CEO of Roche Diagnostics North America, said in the release. “By expanding our manufacturing capabilities in Indianapolis, we ensure reliable access to innovative monitoring solutions for individuals living with diabetes in the U.S. and worldwide.”

The Indianapolis site currently serves as one of two global distribution hubs for Accu-Chek diabetes test strips. The site also houses the company’s U.S. research and development, along with laboratories, manufacturing, distribution, IT and administrative functions.

The expansion is expected to generate hundreds of manufacturing jobs and construction jobs. The release said the expansion is also expected to enhance the company’s domestic production capabilities and reduce dependency on imports.
