DA investigates murder-suicide in King of Prussia; woman’s body found in river

(WPHL) — The Montgomery County District Attorney and Upper Merion Township Police are investigating a murder-suicide incident in King of Prussia.

According to DA Kevin R. Steele, 57-year-old Tonya Dupree, from King of Prussia, was found dead in the Schuylkill River on May 10 at 11:30 a.m. after killing her husband, 62-year-old Robert Dupree Sr.

This all happened after Upper Dublin Police responded to the FedEx warenghouse after Dupree’s adult son reported that his mother, Tonya, called him out of work and pointed a gun to his head in her vehicle. The son was able to wrestle the gun from Tonya.

Police then conducted a welfare check at the Dupree residence at 10:15 a.m. and found Robert Dupree dead in his bed with a gunshot wound.

At this time, it is not known how Tonya’s body ended up in the river.

Montgomery County Detective Bureau, Upper Merion Township Police, and Upper Dublin Police are investigating.
