It happened around 9 p.m. on the 2400 block of Silveria Way. According to fire crews, four people were standing near the fire pit when it exploded, causing injuries to all four individuals.
Officials said the victims suffered burns to their face, arms, and chest. Three of them were airlifted to a hospital outside the area to receive specialized care in a burn unit, while the fourth was treated on-site, said Contra Costa County Fire.
As of now, there are no details available on the victims or the cause of the explosion.
Fire crews are actively investigating the incident, but Contra Costa County Fire confirmed that the explosion did not result in an outside fire.
