Arson suspected in Antioch vacant building blaze

(KRON) — Fire investigators believe a Tuesday night blaze at a vacant building in Antioch that severely damaged its roof was intentionally set, said the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

Contra Costa County Fire said crews encountered “heavy fire conditions” when they arrived at the scene with dense smoke pouring out of the building, which was previously a tire store.

“The building suffered partial collapse, and crews remained in defensive mode until the fire was knocked down approximately 70 minutes after arrival,” said fire officials.

There have been no injuries reported so far. There has been no suspect description released.

This is an active arson investigation. Anyone with information on the fire is urged to call the Contra Costa Fire Arson Tip Line at 1-866-502-7766.
