University of Delaware student killed in pedestrian crash identified
NEWARK, Del. (WPHL) — The Newark Police Department has released the identity of the University of Delaware student who was killed after Tuesday’s deadly crash on Main Street as Marina Vasconcelos, 24, of North East, Maryland.

The other pedestrian hit, also a University of Delaware graduate student, remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Seven other people, plus the driver, were injured during the incident.

The driver was identified Wednesday as 22-year-old Gordon Turner of New Castle, Delaware. According to the Newark Police Department, Turner is also a fugitive wanted in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

Turner is facing several charges, including murder and assault. Police say additional charges may be possible as the investigation continues.

After being issued a $305,500 cash bond, Turner was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.

The Newark Police Department is also asking anyone with footage of the crash to upload video on its website.
