E.D. White uses extra innings to take down St. Charles Catholic in game one of quarterfinal series

LAPLACE, La. — No. 7 E.D. White defeated No. 2 St. Charles Catholic, 3-2 in game one of their Division II Select quarterfinal series Thursday night in Laplace.

With Jonathan Lee on first base in the top of the ninth inning, Luke Zeringue smacked a hard ground ball to third.

The throw to first took the first baseman off the bag, and Zeringue was safe at first. Lee instinctively kept running the bases and scored the go-ahead run to give the Cardinals the 3-2 advantage.

The Cardinals and Comets meet for game two of their best-of-three series Friday at 4:30 p.m. in Laplace.
