Bossier City night market fuses Cinco de Mayo with Star Wars fun

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — On May 3, 2025, the Bossier Night Market returns, combining two huge celebrations into one event.

The event will feature a free Cinco de Mayo celebration and events for the yearly May the 4th Be With You Star Wars day.

Cinco de Mayo is often mistaken for Mexico’s Independence Day celebration; it is actually the commemoration of Mexico’s victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Mexican Independence Day is on September 16.

For Cinco de Mayo, there will be an assortment of tacos and other Mexican food, salsas, and live music.

Star Wars Day is celebrated on May 4 thanks to the pun “May the 4th Be With You.” This catchphrase is based on Star Wars’ “May the Force be with you,” a phrase used throughout the series to hope that the mystical “Force” would grant protection and good fortune. This is a day for Star Wars fans to have fun and celebrate the long-running franchise, now owned by the Walt Disney Company.

For May the 4th Be With You, costumed Star Wars characters will interact with the crowd. There will be lightsaber duel demonstrations and lightsabers for sale, and the night will conclude with a 9 p.m. Star Wars fireworks show.

This all comes in addition to the typical Night Market layout. An assortment of wares will be available for purchase.

Over 230 vendors and more than 15 food trucks will gather at Pierre Bossier Mall from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. for the largest one-day, free vendor shopping event in the country.

From handcrafted soap and candles to skincare products and home decor. Fresh-squeezed lemonade and gator on a stick to paintings and face painting, and of course, an assortment of international cuisine. The Night Market will have Filipino, Venezuelan, Asian, and Cajun food in addition to pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, and more.

The Bossier Night Market will take place in the parking lot of Pierre Bossier Mall after the Bossier City Farmers Market. The Night Market and parking are free, and the event is pet-friendly. There will be a cool indoor seating area available inside the mall.
