‘No one makes sauce like you’: Beloved Santa Rosa Italian restaurant to close after two decades

(KRON) — A beloved Italian restaurant in Santa Rosa said it will permanently close its doors after two decades of serving customers.

Trattoria Cattaneo, located at 2700 Yulupa Ave., made the announcement on April 11 that its last day will be Monday, April 30 after deciding not to renew its lease.

The restaurant, which describes itself as “traditional, homemade Italian food in a cozy family run trattoria” wrote in a social media post, “With heartfelt sadness, after 21+ years, we will be closing our beloved trattoria permanently on April 30th. We have made the insanely hard decision to not renew our lease. Since covid, the restaurant industry has been so unbalanced and so stressful and is seriously affecting our quality of life. We wanted to thank you all for loving us and supporting our family, business and staff for so many years. So many amazing memories. Thank you for letting us be a part of your family and for being a part of ours. Thank you for trusting us to feed you and your families. We will miss you all very much.”

Comments have been pouring in on the goodbye post. One customer wrote, “You’re always the most wonderful and welcoming host. Thank you for the delicious meals and fun times. You will be greatly missed!!”

Other comments ranged from “Such sad news! Best authentic Italian restaurant around” to “Would you be willing to share a couple of sauce recipes? No one makes sauce like you.”
