Pedestrian fatally injured after train strikes him in Bossier City

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A pedestrian was fatally injured after being struck by a train at Barksdale Boulevard near Violet Street in Bossier City.

The Bossier City Police Department said that the victim has not been identified, but is described as a black male, possibly in his late 20s.

“Witnesses reported that the man was walking on the tracks and the train was approaching the man from his back side,” a press release stated. “The train blew its horn continuously in an attempt to warn and alert the victim.

“The man never left the track and was struck by the train, and was knocked off the track into an area adjacent to the track. There were headphones found in the proximity of the accident, but it is not confirmed that the victim was wearing them at the time of the accident.”

The BCPD reminds all citizens to be careful when approaching railways and always exercise caution for their safety.
