High-speed chases end in arrests, crash, power outage

DISCLAIMER: All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Shreveport Police Department arrested two suspects after being led on separate high-speed chases, with one resulting in a crash.

On Sunday, just after 8 p.m., officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Interstate 49 and Kings Highway. The driver, identified as Clayton Lemons, allegedly refused to stop and led police on a pursuit.

Lemons allegedly lost control and crashed at Kings Highway and Dickinson. His vehicle hit a SWEPCO power pole, knocking out electricity in the area, then burst into flames. Lemons survived the crash and faces charges of aggravated flight from an officer, DWI, and several traffic violations.

A separate case saw Roderick Duncan allegedly lead the SPD on a pursuit on Thursday. Officers said they disengaged when the chase became too dangerous to continue. Follow-up work led to Duncan’s arrest on Sunday.
