Colfax police, US Marshals arrest man in 2024 shooting case

COLFAX, La. (WNTZ) — The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, in collaboration with the Colfax Police Department, arrested Kadarius Nelson of Ball, Louisiana, on Monday in connection with a violent shooting that occurred in Colfax late last year.

The arrest stems from an investigation into a Dec. 2, 2024, drive-by shooting on Eleanor Street in Colfax. Authorities said the case involved extensive interagency cooperation, numerous leads, and community tips that ultimately led investigators to Nelson’s location.

Nelson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Rapides Parish Jail for booking.

He is charged by Colfax police with six offenses, including criminal conspiracy, assault by drive-by shooting, attempted second-degree murder, and criminal damage to property. His bond has been set at $250,000.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
