Two, including Mt. Carmel woman, killed in North’d ATV crash

DALMATIA – A Mount Carmel woman was one of two killed in an ATV crash in the western Mahantongo Valley overnight.

Maura Mengel, 28, of Mount Carmel and Bobbie Conrad, 43, of Dalmatia were found dead in an area near Yeagers Hill Road in Lower Mahanoy Township near Dalmatia, according to State Police at Stonington.

Troopers said they were called to help find the two missing women around 8:30pm Sunday night when they had gone for an ATV ride and had not been heard from in several hours.

A search was initiated and an ATV was found crashed off Yeagers Hill Road and the two women were nearby.

Troopers said the ATV the women were riding was travelling at a high rate of speed and crashed down an embankment.
