Brother Martin claims third Catholic League baseball championship under head coach Jeff Lupo

NEW ORLEANS — Brother Martin’s win over St. Augustine Tuesday secured the program’s ninth Catholic League championship and the third under head coach Jeff Lupo

The Crusaders won the title outright with their impressive 11-1 record in District 9-5A, but winning the Catholic League crown is just one of several goals they have this season.

“Winning the league is such an important part of this district and the history that goes along with it, and what it means to our schools and our school communities. But at the same time, you know, every game is going to be a dogfight. So it’s just a matter of us getting ready to play again and playing a really good Rummel team. Our seniors’ last home game is on Thursday night. So there’s a lot of stuff to play for as well as playoff seeding,” said Brother Martin head baseball coach Jeff Lupo.

Brother Martin entered the day third in the Division I Select power rankings with an overall record of 23-6.

They face Rummel Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. over at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.
