17-year-old arrested for illegally modified handgun in Terrebonne Parish
TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (KLFY) — A teenager was arrested on alleged firearm charges after officials said they witnessed illegal narcotics activity.

Officials said 17-year-old Jaylen Lavell Richardson was arrested for weapons related offenses during a traffic stop in Terrebonne Parish.

Officials said they performed a traffic stop Wednesday morning, on a vehicle in the area of Westside Boulevard, after witnessing a narcotics related incident. They said during the traffic stop Richardson, who was a passenger within the vehicle, was found to be in possession of an illegally modified handgun in his waistband.

Through further investigation, the weapon was found chambered with a live round, and an extended magazine loaded with 26 rounds.

Richardson was sent to a Terrebonne Parish jail on charges of handling of machine guns, and illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile.

There is currently no bond information released.
