Suspect in Grand Ronde shooting incident turns himself in to authorities

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A man accused of shooting a person multiple times early Thursday morning has turned himself in to Yamhill County deputies, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded to a residence on SW Lachance Road in rural Grand Ronde and found a homeowner aiding the victim, a Sheridan man, until medics arrived. The man was taken to the hospital for “critical care.”

The suspect was not at the scene when officials arrived, though deputies said he had been “briefly in contact by telephone with 911.” He turned himself in to police hours later.

An investigation is ongoing, but deputies said alcohol was a factor in this shooting.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
