Devil May Cry Season 2 Trailer

Netflix’s Devil May Cry animated series Season 2 will see Dante come face-to-face with his long-lost brother, Vergil.

Warning! Light spoilers follow:

Though less than 90 seconds long, a new action-packed trailer teased what’s to come when the second season drops next month and the twins finally face off. Expect bombastic combat sequences, snappy oneliners — “I can’t even tell which of you is the hand and which is the asshole!” being a case in point — and a truly blood-pumping soundtrack.

Like the first season, showrunner Adi Shankar plays around with both canonical events and their timelines, with Vergil insisting that when Mundus, the Prince of Darkness, found him as a child, he “set him free.”

Despite their obvious animosity, the brothers are warned that they each have a part to play in the “coming reformation,” an alliance that is further teased towards the end of the trailer.

We also see Vergil as a child, hinting that we’ll get at least one gripping flashback into what happened when the brothers were separated… and what Vergil has endured since.

Season 1 focused on Dante’s conflict with the terrorist White Rabbit and an impending apocalypse, and closed on the shock news that his twin brother Vergil was alive. Shankar promised Season 2 will continue to deliver plenty of surprises for fans, previously saying that he was “allergic to formula.” “I dislike when successful shows turn into comfort food,” he said in a recent interview. “Devil May Cry won’t be TV that loops. My mission for Season 2 was to capture the feeling of a 2000s film franchise entry where the audience can’t predict the next turn.”

If there’s one thing Shankar wants to impress upon fans about the upcoming second season of Netflix’s Devil May Cry, it’s that the animated series is getting bigger. Much bigger. So much so that Shankar is comparing it to the gulf between 2005’s Batman Begins and its 2008 sequel, The Dark Knight.

Devil May Cry Season 2 launches on Netflix on May 12, 2026.
