Oregon man facing murder charges after shooting in Baker City

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 23-year-old man from Baker City was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on March 24 in connection to a shooting that happened in Baker City.

Suspect Caleb Mansuetti fatally shot 35-year-old Brandon Chase of Baker City on March 20, the Baker City Police Department said. Police responded to the shooting near Ohio Ave. at approximately 9:07 p.m., where they found Chase in the driver’s seat of his car, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Chase was taken by ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City and was later flown to a regional hospital where he died from his injuries.

The Baker City Police Department, Oregon State Police and the Baker County Sheriff’s Office all took part in the investigation. Mansuetti was Booked into the Baker County Jail for charges of second-degree murder, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, pointing a gun at another person, menacing and felon in possession of a firearm.
