Police: Rockford felon was Tased after resisting arrest for having a weapon at Rosecrance

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Jason Thomas, 40, for having a weapon at a Rosecrance Ware Center, according to court records.

On March 24, around 10 a.m., officers were called to the Rosecrance located at 2704 North Main Street for reports of an aggressive man with a gun in his waistband.

The suspect was reaching for his firearm while he was being detained, court documents show. He was eventually tased, police reported.

Authorities found an airsoft gun loaded with live .40 caliber rounds, along with a glass pipe and a metal spoon.

Thomas is charged with felony possession of a weapon, resisting an officer, possessing drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of ammunition.
