Avoyelles Parish deputies receive donated CAT tourniquets

MARKSVILLE, La. (WNTZ) – Sheriff David L. Dauzat and the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) have expressed their gratitude to the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association for the donation of Combat Application Tourniquets (CATs).

The tourniquets will be issued to APSO patrol deputies, equipping them with a critical lifesaving tool to respond to medical emergencies in the field.

“These tourniquets enhance our ability to act quickly in life-threatening situations, protecting both our deputies and the citizens of Avoyelles Parish,” Sheriff Dauzat said. “We sincerely appreciate the support of the United States Deputy Sheriff’s Association in strengthening our mission to keep our community safe.”

CAT tourniquets are designed to control severe bleeding in trauma situations. Featuring a windlass system for one-handed application, these devices are widely used by law enforcement, first responders, and military personnel to prevent life-threatening blood loss before medical care arrives.

APSO emphasized that this donation underscores the importance of equipping officers with essential medical tools to improve emergency response efforts.
