Nearly two years after the suspicious death of Brittany Guillory Fontenot in Ville Platte, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest. Officials said the suspect is her husband, Ray Charles Fontenot Jr.
After reopening the case, officials said Brittany was found at her home in Ville Platte in 2023 with three gunshot wounds to the head from two different guns.
Since the day her body was found, her family pleaded for the arrest of her husband Ray Fontenot Jr.
In the months following, Evangeline Parish Sheriff, Charles Guillory, said his office received the assistance of multiple agencies to find the real cause of death.
Guillory told KLFY 10, “And finally, we did get the results back from state police. And finally, we got FBI. We met with them last week.”
Deputies said that evidence along with one other detail officials noticed ultimately lead to the arrest warrant that allowed Ray Fontenot Jr.
“The evidence that they gave us with the results that came out from the state police crime lab, and there were so many inconsistencies with the defendant’s statements that he gave.” Guillory said. “We have enough probable calls to affect an arrest from the from the court. And we did that.”
Although an arrest has been made, this is still an ongoing investigation.
