The LSP reported the crash happened on Louisiana 300 near Louisiana 39 around 10:20 p.m.
LSP officials said an initial investigation shows 13-year-old Joshua Bordelon and an unidentified juvenile were riding a bicycle in the center of the westbound lane while a GMC was driving west on Louisiana 300. The GMC then reportedly hit the bicycle.
Bordelon was taken to a hospital for his injuries, where he later died. The other juvenile suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.
The driver of the GMC was uninjured.
According to the LSP, “LA 300 was poorly lit, both riders were wearing dark clothing and there were no lights on the bicycle” at the time of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
