East Baton Rouge grand jury indicts 7 suspects in murder of 8-year-old boy

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Seven people were indicted by an East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury in connection with the drive-by murder of 8-year-old Diellon Daniels, the district attorney’s office announced Wednesday.

Daniels died from his injuries after a shooting on Swan Avenue in November 2024. Police said his mother and her five children were hit by gunfire multiple times during the drive-by.

Tremell Harris, Yancy Jarrell, Roger Parker, and Kendrick Profit were formally charged with first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder, assault by drive-by shooting and illegal use of weapons during a crime of violence. Profit was also charged with obstruction of justice.

Brianna Crump and Yarnell Crump were charged as accessories after the fact to first-degree murder and five counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Demarcus Parker was charged with obstruction of justice.

The district attorney’s office confirmed that all defendants except for one are currently in custody. An arrest warrant has been issued for Demarcus. No decision has been made on if the state will seek the death penalty in this case.

Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation remains ongoing. No court dates have been set at this time.
