Over $2M raised for St. Judes Children’s Research during Minden, La. annual event

MINDEN, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—An annual fundraiser in Minden, La. raised millions to support St. Jude’s Children’s Research.

For 50 years, Minden has raised money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research. To celebrate the golden anniversary, they auctioned and raffled off some prizes. At the event, you could find everything from a chicken coop to a 2025 truck, including local items.

The event was broadcast on KASO radio and Optimum cable. Katherine Reed volunteered to manage the stage and book the talent, she said, “I laugh, I have kids, my husband knows this is the drill, I’ll be gone for four days. You know it’s all work it.”

Many locals volunteered and donated items for the auction.

My family is rooted in Minden, so we also got in on the spirit of giving and donated a grill in memory of my grandparents, A. J. and Maggie Callender.

Laura Hollingsworth put it best: “We have the most giving, generous community that you can imagine here in Minden.”
