Lafayette man arrested in Abbeville for illegal firearm discharge

ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) — DaMarcus Broussard, 22, of Lafayette was allegedly arrested for illegal discharge of firearm and possession of a stolen firearm, said Abbeville Police.

The Abbeville Police Department said they responded to several calls reporting shots fired at the Chapel Down Apartments on 1021 W Port St on Thursday March 6. at 7:27 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers said they received information that someone from one of the apartments walked to the rear of the complex and discharged four or five rounds from a firearm. Looking through apartment security cameras, officers said they were able to find a suspect and locate casings behind one of the buildings.

Police said Broussard was transported to the Abbeville Police Department to be booked on both charges, then transported to Vermilion Police Correction Center.

No bond has been released. We will update when more information is released.
