Caregiver steals K in jewelry from 86-year-old in Visalia, deputies say
VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A caregiver is now behind bars after being accused of stealing almost $100,000 worth of jewelry from an 86-year-old woman under her care, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies say they were called for a theft at a home in Visalia on Oct. 22, 2024.

Upon arrival, the sheriff’s office learned multiple pieces of valuable jewelry that belonged to an 86-year-old woman were missing. Four caregivers were identified as potential suspects in this case, and one of them was 28-year-old Sandra Jarman of Visalia, per deputies.

Throughout the investigation, detectives say they traced the stolen jewelry to multiple pawn shops in Visalia, where Jarman sold numerous pieces. Although some of the victim’s jewelry was already scrapped, detectives recovered a diamond pendant worth $10,000 which they returned to the 86-year-old on Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office says they tracked Jarman’s location through cell phone data and served a warrant on Feb. 13; however, on Wednesday, Sandra voluntarily turned herself in at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and was booked into the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility under suspicion of burglary, grand theft, elder abuse, embezzlement and possession of stolen property.
