Three arrested in LaPlace fentanyl lab drug bust

LAPLACE, La. (WGNO) — Three LaPlace men have been arrested following a fentanyl lab drug bust that took place on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

According to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 9 p.m., deputies allegedly saw marijuana and other drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop on North Sugar Ridge Drive. 29-year-old Maalik A. Jackson, his brother 33-year-old Mystafus Azim Jackson and 34-year-old Denzel L. Mason were all reportedly in the vehicle.

After the stop, deputies say they searched Mystafus’ LaPlace apartment, allegedly finding more drugs, including fentanyl, as well as drug paraphernalia, scales and a gun. The fentanyl was reportedly found with a cutting agent, baggies and a blender for mixing the drug.

Mystafus Jackson, held on a $216,500 bond, was booked on the following charges:

  • Possession with intent to distribute oxycodone.
  • Possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony.)
  • Possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia 1st offense (misdemeanor.)
  • Possession of firearm/carry concealed weapon by convicted felon (felony.)
  • Illegal carrying of weapon with CDS.
  • Possession with intent to distribute fentanyl (felony.)
  • Creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory for the unlawful manufacture of CDS (felony.)

Denzel Mason, held on a $9,339 bond, was booked on the following charges:

  • Fugitive warrant for Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
  • An attachment warrant for contempt of court (misdemeanor.)
  • Judicial judge warrant for simple criminal damage to property-under $500 (misdemeanor.)
  • Bench warrant for contempt of court (misdemeanor.)
  • Judicial judge warrant for domestic abuse battery (misdemeanor.)
  • Possession of oxycodone.

Maalik Jackson, released on a $15,450 bond, was booked on the following charges:

  • Contempt of court (felony.)
  • Possession of marijuana 28 grams or more (felony.)
  • Possession of oxycodone.
  • Sale, distribution or possession of legend drug without prescription or order prohibited.
