On Feb 24, around 11 p.m., officers were in an unmarked police SUV when saw a silver Kia Optima fail to completely stop at a stop sign at 7th Street and 15th Avenue, according to court records.
Authorities determined the car’s registration was expired as well.
Officials pulled the vehicle over in the 1100 block of 17th Avenue and smelled raw cannabis when they approached the vehicle. Police searched Brown and felt a firearm in his pants, according to court documents.
Officers attempted to detain Brown but he fled the scene on foot, police reported.
He was eventually taken into custody after authorities saw the suspect drop a handgun.
Brown is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, aggravated unlawful possession of a loaded firearm without a FOID and resisting an officer.
