North Ogden police chief placed on leave due to ongoing investigation

NORTH OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — The North Ogden City chief of police was placed on leave earlier this month due to an ongoing investigation.

North Ogden City confirmed with ABC4 Monday that Chief Brian Eynon was placed on leave on Feb. 12 after the city council received “information” that prompted an investigation. The city did not clarify what the information was, but said the investigation itself “does not imply any wrongdoing and is not a criminal investigation.”

The city said the investigation into the chief is being conducted by an independent third party and is still active. Its statement said it is policy to place a chief on administrative leave during an open investigation. North Ogden City will provide additional information once the investigation is complete.

“Ogden City Police Department continues to operate with a focus on the mission of public safety,” the city’s response read.

According to LinkedIn, Eynon has worked at the police department for 29 years. The city announced his promotion to chief of police in May of last year.
