Richard was rewarded with a $100 Petco gift card from The Humane Society of Louisiana to thank her for the services she provides to the animals of her community, according to HSLA Director Jeff Dorson.
“We are very impressed with Amber’s stellar results and the positive impact she’s made in your community and those around her,” Dorson said. “Amber devotes virtually every free moment and spare penny to her rescue and rehab efforts, and we should all give her a big pat on the back or donate something to her operations.”
Nine years ago, Richard inherited a house with litter of stray cats which inspired her to start “Raes Rescue.” Over time, Richard fostered and fixed over 700 local cats in her area. Amber has also helped foster, coordinate adoption and transport over 3,000 dogs and 32 reptiles.
“We can’t save them all, but we can make a difference one furry soul at a time,” said Richard.
The Humane Society is aware of the problems associated with pet overpopulation, the need for more shelters, spay/neuter programs, volunteers and resources. Richard’s efforts have inspired others to follow her lead in communities around the state.
If you would like to help Amber continue her mission to assist animals in the community, you can donate to her directly through paypal here , Venmo at raesrescueunlimited (7562), or email Spay Nation at Spaynation@gmail.com.
