Now that you have kickstarted your journey finding your pace and path is important.
If you are like most people who work a full time job, it can be difficult to make the time to take walks, go for a run, go to your gym, or make sure you hit your step goal. The typical thought seems to be that everyone needs to get 10,000 steps a day, but that may not be true for each person. Those who work a desk job and only get 2,000 steps a day, may have a hard time reaching 10,000 steps a day. Working your way up slowly can be beneficial, realistic, and sustainable.
Finding the time is hard, so you have to make time in your day to meet your step goal you have created for yourself. This can look different for each person depending on their career, job, and lifestyle.
Here are a few creative tips for getting your daily step goal in:
- Get up 1 hour earlier and take a walk in your neighborhood
- Use a portion of your break at work to walk around the parking lot or building
- Walk around your house while doom scrolling or watching TV
- Utilize walking work out videos on YouTube
- Order a budget friendly walking pad online or check Facebook marketplace
- Play a dancing video game or dance around your house to music
These are just a few ideas to get you moving so you can meet your personal step goal, whether that be 5k, 7k, or 10k steps a day. Meeting your movement goals will help you meet your weight loss goals in the future and build healthy habits with movement.
