St. Scholastica wins back-to-back state soccer titles, snaps St. Thomas More’s championship win streak

HAMMOND, La. — No. 2 St. Scholastica defeated No. 1 St. Thomas More, 4-1 in the Division II girl’s soccer state championship game Thursday night at Southeastern Louisiana University’s Strawberry Stadium.

Eighth grader, Caroline Todd, was named the Most Outstanding Player with two goals in the Doves’ win. Todd also scored two goals in the semi-final round.

Last year, SSA won the Division I state soccer title.

They moved to Division II for the 2024-25 season and outscored opponents 26-2 this postseason, en route to their second straight state final appearance.

St. Thomas More entered the night with seven consecutive state championship victories but that streak ended courtesy of St. Scholastica Thursday night.

More prep soccer championship coverage will be featured this week on WGNO’s Friday Night Sports. The show airs Fridays at 11 p.m. on Nola 38 the CW.

It replays at midnight on WGNO.
