Gluckstadt Police Chief Barry Hale said officers were pursuing a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Oxford, Mississippi. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene on I-55 north of Canton.
After the chase on I-55, Hale said the suspect’s vehicle became stuck on Pisgah Bottom Road. The driver got out of the vehicle and ran away from the scene.
The suspect, who was identified as Anthony Albert Simms, was found hiding in a ditch and was taken into custody.
Simms has been charged with felony eluding, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.
