Richmond police arrest woman charged with stabbing man

RICHMOND, Ind. — Police have arrested a woman accused of stabbing a man in Richmond early Tuesday morning.

According to the Richmond Police Department, officers were called around 2 a.m. to the 1100 block of NW 6th Street in response to a report of a stabbing. RPD said officers arrived on the scene and located a man suffering from a stab wound to his back.

According to RPD, the man was transported to Reid Health for medical treatment and was last reported to be in stable condition.

RPD quickly identified 26-year-old Allison Junkin as a potential suspect and determined that she had reportedly fled the scene before officers arrived to investigate.

Junkin was soon located and detained by officers following a traffic stop. She was detained without incident and transported to the Wayne County Jail where she was preliminary charged with Battery with a Deadly Weapon, a Level 5 Felony.

“The Richmond Police Department responded swiftly and worked diligently to locate and apprehend the suspect in this case,” said Richmond Police Chief Kyle Weatherly. “Their quick actions ensured that the victim received medical attention and that the individual responsible was taken into custody without further incident.”

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact RPD at (765) 983-7247.
