According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 27000 block of Jackson Street shortly before 10 p.m. Two occupants of the home said they heard gunshots, and when they left, found that the girlfriend of one of the residents had been shot.
On arrival, deputies found the victim lying by her vehicle with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital and listed under stable condition.
A 16-year-old was identified as the alleged shooter by the STPSO. He was arrested and booked into the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center on charges of attempted second-degree murder, obstruction of justice and being a minor in possession of a firearm.
STPSO deputies said the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are possible.
