We are coming off a week of record-breaking warmth for early February and now Super Bowl weekend will bring a chill our way. Expect highs only in the 30s with overnight lows in the teens and 20s across northern and central Utah. Southern Utah will see a return to highs in the 50s and lows in the 20s and 30s.
While most of the moisture has cleared, a weak disturbance will move through Northern Utah Saturday and allow for some light snow showers, mainly in the higher elevations, Saturday morning into Saturday afternoon. A few flurries can’t be ruled out in some valley locations with lingering moisture and cold air in place. Super Bowl Sunday has a drier setup but temperatures remain close to average with upper 30s and low 40s expected and ample sunshine.
The work week starts quietly with calm conditions, but Tuesday and into Wednesday, a trough from the Pacific Northwest drops in and brings a reinforcing shot of colder air for the midweek, and while the system looks fairly moisture-starved, isolated snow showers are possible. This is just the first of a series of systems that could potentially bring valley snow back to the Wasatch Front and parts of the state. Active skies could set up for your Valentine’s Day, so stay tuned!
