Heath Hall, the spokesperson for the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, said deputies responded to the plant around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, January 27 after receiving a call about the kidnapping.
Holmes County Sheriff Willie March said the victim jumped out of the vehicle on Interstate 55 in Holmes County near Carroll County. The woman, who was identified as Antoinette Jackson, 31, died from her injuries after she was hit by another car.
Hall said Jackson had been shot multiple times. He said investigators recovered a gun.
The suspect was identified as Joshua Andrews, 29. He was taken into custody by Carroll County deputies.
Andrews was transported to the Madison County Detention Center and was charged with capital murder and felon in possession of a firearm. He made his initial court appearance on Tuesday, January 28 and was denied bond. The state argued that he was a flight risk because he traveled from Georgia to Mississippi to commit the crime.
According to the Madison County Justice Court, Andrews is now facing a first-degree murder charge for the unborn child.
