Court documents indicate that on November 30, 2024, officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting near the intersection of North Judge Ely Boulevard and East Highway 80. The victim stated that he was followed by Robert Guevara and Anthony Garcia to this location by car.
After the victim pulled into a parking lot, he claimed that Guevara and Garcia exited their car and displayed firearms. The victim was “certain that Guevara shot at him,” hitting his car multiple times. Initially, he was uncertain if Garcia had also fired a weapon, but he later told officers that he believed Garcia did. Although the victim was not physically harmed, he was in fear of imminent danger.
That night, spent cartridges were found at the scene, and patrol officers stopped Garcia in the suspect vehicle; records indicate that he denied any involvement.
Upon further investigation, additional evidence was uncovered using surveillance video, license plate readers, and phone data, which corroborated the victim’s allegations.
Guevara and Garcia were both charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault. Guevara, with a bond of $100,000, and Garcia, with a bond of $75,000, were booked into the Taylor County Jail on December 27. They were released on bond the following day.
