
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Another extreme heat warning and advisory has been issued for Tuesday, July 29 with temperatures climbing to the mid to upper 90s with heat index values near 115.
The National Weather Service urges everyone to drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks in the AC, and to bring pets indoors. Heat exhaustion or heat stroke are likely with prolonged exposure in the extreme heat.
In addition to the extreme heat… rain is back in the forecast! There is the potential for scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening. Numerous thunderstorms with dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning can be expected with isolated flash flooding possible.
Rain sticks around for the next several days. Wednesday will continue to be very hot with temperatures in the 90s, but more scattered storms move in.
Looking at a very hot next couple of days with rain chances sticking around as we head into the weekend. Stay safe in the extreme heat and remember to stay hydrated!
We have been fairly normal this month when looking at temperatures. Our average July high temperature is 93 degrees. We have had 11 above, 9 below, and 10 normal temperature days. We are supposed to be above normal today with temperatures in the mid to upper 90s.
