
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A new bishop is being ordained and installed in The Diocese of the Houma-Thibodaux on Friday, Aug. 5.

Father Simon Peter Engurait will become the sixth bishop in the diocese at a ceremony which is scheduled to be begin at 1:45 p.m.

Pope Leo XIV selected Father Engurait to be the next bishop and the announcement was made on Thursday. June 5.
Engurait has served as the pastor of St. Bridget Parish, Vicar General, and Diocesan Administrator in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux.
He was ordained a priest in 2013.
